Froebelian is a warm and friendly school where we celebrate uniqueness and provide a happy and safe, learning environment where your child is challenged and supported to achieve personal excellence. Each year up to 24 children aged 2+ are welcomed. Places for older children are sometimes available and enquiries are always welcome.

Situated in Horsforth, and as one of the North’s leading independent prep schools, we welcome over 180 pupils between the ages of 2 and 11.

With 51 weeks a year provision for all children, and recent investment and development in Sport we aim to balance both academic and Extra-Curricular spheres of school life and honour our school motto – ‘Giving a flying start to the citizens of tomorrow.’
Our aim is to provide an exceptional, safe and inclusive, future focused all-round education with committed and supportive pastoral care, enabling us to develop the whole child.
Our children regularly secure a place at their first choice of senior school and we enjoy an excellent scholarship success rate.

Success in Entrance Exams
In 2024, every pupil worked with incredible focus and determination to achieve excellence in the 11+ Entrance Exams. Destinations for September 2024 are:
Woodhouse Grove School, GSAL (including 2 scholarships), Bradford Grammar School (including 2 scholarships), St Mary’s Menston, Heckmondwike Grammar, Horsforth High, Immanuel College Bradford and Ilkley Grammar.

Assessment
We are delighted with the progress our children are making in school, as evidenced by the recent GL assessments. Across the school, over a third of our students are achieving ‘highly’ or ‘very highly’ in both English and Maths. Additionally, two-thirds are performing ‘above average’ or higher. We are incredibly proud of each child’s efforts and achievements throughout the year. Many students have made significant personal progress, which may not be fully captured by these results. Their dedication and hard work, as well as that of the staff, are commendable. We are excited to continue supporting their educational journey and will build on these results to push for further academic excellence.
Charity & Community
To align with our core ethos and values, each year we regularly spend time in the local community and choose a charity to support. The benefits from a close involvement with community and charity are felt throughout the Froebelian Family.
Music

Drama
The latest Form IV and Form III pupil entrants for Drama examinations achieved an outstanding set of results with everyone receiving distinctions. The examiner commented on how very confident children were and how impressed she was with all of their performances.

IT Provision
At Froebelian, technology is blended safely and securely into every part of the curriculum and is carefully monitored.
In the classroom, we enhance teaching and learning by embracing new and innovative uses of technology. Our aim is to create learning environments which promote analytical skills, emotional intelligence, teamwork, adaptability, creative thinking, problem-solving, and global citizenship across the school curriculum.
iPads are used in every classroom to enhance diverse learning activities, such as enabling collaborative and creative tasks and resource sharing as well as being essential tools for teacher and peer feedback.
The importance of strong and safe digital skills is instilled across the curriculum and the children are regularly taught about online safety and their responsibilities as online citizens. Appropriate monitoring and filtering safeguards are in place as outlined in our online safety policy.
In addition to IT in the wider curriculum, Froebelian offers designated IT lessons which focus on coding and digital citizenship. We also offer extra-curricular coding clubs run by specialist teachers.
